Whether you get a tattoo because you think it is stylish, an act of rebellion, a way to shout about your identity, or an opportunity to add something with meaning, it seems like everyone is getting inked. In fact, a staggering one third of Britons under 44 now have one or more tattoos. This doesn’t come as a surprise when we constantly see celebrities getting new designs, ranging from a small love heart or meaningful words, to large and bold body coverings (Cheryl Cole’s back tattoo definitely comes to mind).
Tattoo Removal on the Increase
Although the number of people getting tattoos is still strong, apparently 23% of people regret getting one. We’re therefore seeing a huge increase in tattoo removal requests.
Even celebrities are starting to think differently about some of their tattoos and are getting them removed, from Megan Fox, Eva Longoria, Johnny Depp and Britney Spears to name a few.
There are many reasons why someone may want to remove a tattoo, but here’s why some of the A-lister’s chose to get rid of theirs:
- Getting a tattoo of your boyfriend or husband’s name is not uncommon, however, unfortunately if this doesn’t last, you’re stuck with the reminder. Cheryl Cole is currently considering getting her ‘Mrs C’ tattoo removed after her secret wedding and recent name change. Angelina Jolie also had her ‘Billie Bob’ tattoo removed after her marriage ended.
- Many people react differently to tattoos and rapper, 50 Cent, chose to get rid of his when he turned his focus towards acting. He felt that in doing so, it would increase his chances of being cast in major film roles.
- People also change over time and so something that may once have been a good idea may not suit you in 5, 10 or 20 years time. Pharrell Williams had large tattoos covering both of his arms, but recently decided to get these moved, saying that when he got them, he was just “young and rebellious”.
Laser Tattoo Removal Treatments
Although tattoos were once a permanent statement, treatments have come a long way. With laser tattoo removal, in most cases, a tattoo can now be completely removed.
One of the most revolutionary treatments right now is Picosure tattoo removal. It is one of the fastest and most effective ways to get rid of your unwanted tattoo. A Picosure laser works to safely target and shatter ink into tiny particles, which your body can then easily naturally eliminate. Tattoo’s which are darker or multi-coloured can be difficult to treat with other laser treatments, however the Picosure laser is able to remove these complex tattoos much more efficiently.
